About Capacity Building
Capacity building and training is a core practice group at Young Lives India. Young Lives India’s vision document states that “The need for enhanced capabilities and capacities to influence change at a policy and programmatic level is imperative. To address the gap, Young Lives shall actively engage in undertaking capacity building programmes and support national, state, and international organisations. Furthermore, capacity building activities should have an embedded mechanism of quality assurance and sustainability.” Our capacity building programmes are designed to:
• Adopt principles of andragogy and heutagogy, which promote self-directed learning.
• Offer safe space for reflection.
• Ensure effective and efficient transfer of skills.
Young Lives India undertakes multitude of capacity building activities targeted at diverse stakeholders:
Policy makers, planners and administrators: To advance evidence-based policy making as well as effective planning, budgeting and monitoring of progammes.
Trainers: To build knowledge and skills to impart experiential trainings and develop attitudes to provide on-going mentoring support.
Implementors: To build knowledge, skills, and attitudes amongst practitioners to incorporate evidence into programmes and adopt child-friendly principles and inclusive practices.
